Xiaomi has presented the Redmi Book 16 2024, a 16-inch laptop that debuts a day after the Huawei MateBook D 16 2024. Available with just an Intel Core i5-13500H processor, the Redmi Book 16 2024 also has a 120 Hz display and a 72 Wh battery that supports 100 W fast charging.
Xiaomi has now introduced the Redmi Book 16 2024, a laptop that it announced today alongside other Redmi products like the Redmi K70 series and Redmi Watch 4. As expected, the new laptop relies on the Core i5-13500H, a Raptor Lake-H processor that Intel announced at the start of the year. While the MateBook D 16 2024 that Huawei announced yesterday is available with two processor options from the same family up to the Core i9-13900H, the Redmi Book 16 2024 makes do with a sole 12-core representative.
Additionally, Xiaomi includes 16 GB of LPDDR5 6,400 MT/s RAM and a choice of 512 GB or 1 TB of PCIe 4.0 storage for CNY 4,399 (~US$619) and CNY 4,699 (~US$661), respectively. Moreover, the company complements these components with a 72 Wh battery that supports 100 W charging over USB Type-C (Thunderbolt 4). Also, the Redmi Book 16 2024 integrates a 3.5 mm jack, a full-sized HDMI port and a trio of USB Type-A ports, but no second Type-C connection.
According to Xiaomi, all these components sit within a 355.2 x 248.5 x 15.9 mm housing that weighs 1.68 kg. Arguably a star of the show is the laptop’s 16:10 display, which measures 16-inches across. Not only does the IPS panel output at 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, but it delivers 400 nits peak brightness with 100% sRGB colour space coverage and a 120 Hz variable refresh rate (60 Hz/120 Hz). Unfortunately, Xiaomi has not yet confirmed whether it plans to offer the Redmi Book 16 2024 outside its home market.
