Hilife Music Group artist Anton has dropped his highly anticipated first single of 2024 from his new album, The Score. The single features Mello D and Leonardo and is a cover of Anita Baker’s 1986 classic.
The following comes from Hilife Music Group, a company DMN is partnered with.
The original version of “Sweet Love” released by Anita Baker won a Grammy Award for ‘Best R&B Song,’ with the single peaking at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States. The song also received top twenty status on the UK singles chart. Anton’s rendition of “Sweet Love” is produced by Anton and mixed by Hi5five Music for Hilife Music Productions.
The single principally diverts from the original version by means of arrangement as well as aspects of the melody and lyrical content. While the adaptation of the backing track and chorus are loosely maintained, the changes to the song classify it as a derivative work under copyright law. Because the work includes major copyrightable elements, it becomes a separate work independent from the first.
Anton’s rendition of “Sweet Love” adds other additional elements including rapping, silky smooth harmonies with elegant and highly sophisticated vocal gymnastics. The result is an imaginative rendition of “Sweet Love” that starts off with an adaptation of the distinctive and widely known intro from the original version, continuing on into silky harmonies that lead into the first verse.
“Having already heard the new album, I can confirm that it is truly phenomenal—the fans will love it,” adds Hilife Music Group Chief Executive Officer Adrian Fife. Anton fans who were eagerly anticipating the new single can also check out the “Sweet Love” music video, coming soon. Designer brand Jorvinci has also partnered with Anton to debut a range of clothing within the Jorvinci brand this July. Anton will drop other single releases ahead of his album release later this year.
The single “Sweet Love” is out now on the Hilife Music Group label on all digital service providers (DSPs).
