Both parties have pointed fingers at each other for the resurgence of violence. Israel asserted that Hamas breached the truce by not setting free the women and kids held captive in Gaza. Conversely, Hamas claimed that Israel was at fault for blocking the delivery of fuel supplies to Gaza's northern region.

Anna Foster from the BBC is providing updates from southern Israel, close to the Gaza border, while Hugo Bachega, the BBC's correspondent in the Middle East, is reporting from Jerusalem.
