THE QUIET PLACE franchise is back for another installment, and this time it will cover day one of the alien invasion that sent the world into a silent frenzy. John Krasinski’s horror series—he provides the story here after directing the first two films and starring in the first—previously followed the Abbott family and their experience hiding from “death angels.”
A Quiet Place: Day One goes back to the beginning of the horrific invasion, and introduces a a new cast of characters. These include Lupita Nyong’o as Sam, Joseph Quinn, Alex Wolff, and Djimon Hounsou (who previously appeared in A Quiet Place Part II) . The first two films took place about a year and a half into the aliens’s initial landing on Earth. Day One, switching things up, takes place on the first day of the invasion and primarily follows Nyong’o’s character, whose normal world is flipped upside down when the creatures suddenly invade Earth. The film will follow her character’s journey to survive and retreat to safety.
Unlike the first films, which took place in rural New York, Day One is set in New York City, giving viewers more of a sense of edge and destruction as they see the city torn down by extraterrestrial creatures building by building.
The film is already receiving good reception from early viewers; with one writing to X:
Expect jump scares, gripping, edge-of-your-seat moments, and popcorn flying as aliens lurch towards you on the big screen.
