This closure marks another significant change for Din Tai Fung, following the passing of the brand’s founder in March 2023.

Founded 66 years ago, Din Tai Fung has grown into a global culinary powerhouse, with over 160 locations worldwide, earning accolades for its authentic Chinese cuisine.

Beijing Din Tai Fung, established in 2004, oversees operations in several cities and has seen its restaurants become beloved staples for locals and visitors alike.

Din Tai Fung’s presence in China, particularly in Beijing, has been deeply cherished by That’s food-loving communities.

The restaurant has won multiple awards, including the 2024 That’s Food and Drink Awards (Beijing) Chinese Family Restaurant of the Year Reader’s Choice and previous New Restaurant of the Year awards in 2014, and the 2016 That’s Food and Drink Awards (Tianjin) for its new opening in Tianjin.

While the impending closure is undoubtedly a loss for the Beijing food scene, fans of the brand can still enjoy its offerings in other Chinese cities, where Din Tai Fung will continue to operate.

As we bid farewell to Din Tai Fung in these key cities, we can only hope that this beloved brand will continue to bring the delicious xiaolongbao experience to diners for years to come.
