Taylor Swift Went Full ‘Reputation’ Mode on Date Night

Date:

What is date night if not a chance to drop hints about your forthcoming rerecorded album? Taylor Swift seized that opportunity last night while out to dinner with Travis Kelce at SoHo Italian joint Torrisi.

Swift, as she’s wont to do, wore an outfit positively loaded with symbolism—all of them pointing to an imminent release of Reputation (Taylor’s Version). She chose a corset top and matching miniskirt from Annie’s Ibiza—each of which retail for $795 apiece—made from a chartreuse deadstock velvet.

But it was her accessories that took the look from subtle Easter egg to an outright proclamation. Swift accessorized her skirt-set with a black Roberto Cavalli monogram bag, which was stylized as an R (for Reputation, of course) with interlocking snakes. She kept the snake motif going, adding a pair of teetering black Versace platform sandals with the brand’s gold metallic Medusa logo. For those in need of a Greek mythology refresher: the gorgon Medusa is depicted with snakes for hair. For those in need of a Taylor Swift lore refresher: in 2016, her social media comments were flooded with snake emojis after Kim Kardashian indirectly called Swift a snake on Twitter. Since then, she has reclaimed the snake, using it as part of her Reputation myth-making.

Kelce did not partake in the sartorial album promo, looking far more 1989 than Reputation. He chose a sky blue knit Marni polo and khaki carpenter pants, which he paired with bright white sneakers. While Kelce is quite the fashionphile himself, he surely can’t blame us for keeping our eyes on Swift. After all, we’re just living in the world (Taylor’s Version).
