Lily-Rose Depp is a well-noted fashion girl. There’s a reason why the late Karl Lagerfeld plucked her as a muse and made her a face of Chanel when she was a teen: The actor and model has long embodied an effortless, French-girl aesthetic. So, it’s only natural that Depp is bringing her style A-game to her latest red carpet press tour. This month, she is busy promoting Nosferatu—the Robert Eggers-directed film that follows an ancient Transylvanian vampire (Bill Skarsgård) who stalks a haunted young woman (Depp) in 19th-century Germany. And just a few days in, Depp’s distinctive outfits are already a fashion thrill to behold.
Where the film leans more eerie and macabre, Depp’s red carpet looks have been elegant and refined. And, of course, there has been tons of Chanel, as she continues to be a face for the French label. For the London premiere earlier this week, the star wore a silk-taffeta skirt suit from Chanel’s fall 2020 couture collection. With its bejeweled closure and ruffled neckline, the ensemble felt whimsical and polished. This week, she also sported the label’s pre-fall 2024 houndstooth jacket and skirt, both of which were covered in multicolored rhinestone flowers.
Both looks are more sweet, less spooky. While co-star Emma Corrin has leaned into the film’s dark romance with sheer silhouettes by McQueen and Saint Laurent, Depp has opted for designs that feel upbeat and very much uptown. (She did, however, sport a transparent top and mini skirt earlier today.) Lucky for us, Depp’s winning style streak is just getting started.
