Apart from mantling and sprinting, you can also slide in Fortnite. This is one of the many traversal mechanics in the game, but how do you do it?
In any battle royale, knowing all the traversal options you have at your disposal is very important. To be able to survive, you need to be on the move at all times. Not just that, in most cases, these movement mechanics will help you get out of some sticky situations.
Epic Games started exploring different movement mechanics during Chapter 3 of the game when they introduced the zero-build mode. So how do you slide in Fortnite?

To slide in Fortnite, you will have to first initiate a sprint. Once you’ve started sprinting, you will have to press the button that causes you to crouch. On PCs, the default binding for this mechanic is ‘ctrl‘ while on controllers you need to press the ‘right joystick.’
The moment you press the button mid-sprint, your character will start sliding. To stop the slide in Fortnite, you will either have to wait till the stamina bar depletes. Alternatively, you can press the buttons mentioned above to disengage the mechanic.

There are a few additional bits that you need to remember. They’re as follows:

- You can always pick up items and fire your weapons while you’re sliding.
- It’s much easier to slide down a slope than on a flat piece of land. In fact, sliding down a slope is somewhat faster as well.
- If you’re in the middle of a firefight then dropping down into a slide can help you escape it without taking too much damage.
- If you jump from a height and then trigger a slide, you could avoid taking fall damage, but you will have to time it right.
