Conceived with corporations and municipal governments in mind, Nissan’s upcoming Energy Share service focuses on providing the best energy management solution for EV fleets. Set to launch in Japan on March 1st, it will deliver a complete, one-stop service experience, from planning to maintenance.

As giant corporations alongside mid-size and small businesses, as long as local authorities using vehicle fleets of various sizes set their eyes on the electric alternatives, Nissan announces a service conceived to meet the demands of such customers. With a launch date of March 1, Nissan Energy Share will debut in Japan first and, according to the official press release, “features Nissan-unique energy management technology that controls the charging and discharging of EV batteries.”

This service is the result of studies and field tests that Nissan has conducted in its home market. The aforementioned press release reveals that the list of test locations includes Namie and Fukushima, with its primary targets being “companies, businesses and municipal governments.” The customers will receive a comprehensive one-stop service experience that includes virtually everything from planning and system build-out to covering the regular maintenance needs that often give headaches to those in charge of large EV fleets.

The Nissan Energy Share system predicts the energy usage of each vehicle monitored, but also tracks the charging sources available and their usage patterns. Thanks to these pieces of information, the vehicle fleets managed can take full advantage of all renewable energy sources available, and can also provide energy to managed buildings that use battery power. Nissan describes a scenario involving buildings with solar panels that charge vehicles during daytime, while receiving back power from them at night.

The services that will be provided by Nissan via the Energy Share offering include a full consulting package, system building (including a selection of vendors and progress management), and maintenance coverage (periodic checkups, on-demand troubleshooting, performance analysis, as well as suggestions for improvement based on the acquired data).
