According to a new leak, Xiaomi has employed the services of a industry-leading camera expert to aid with tuning the Xiaomi 14 Ultra camera aesthetics and color science. On the flip side, though, it appears earlier reports of an ultrasonic fingerprint reader were inaccurate.
The Xiaomi 14 series will launch globally on February 25. While the official announcement made no mention of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, it looks likely that the flagship will debut on that date alongside the vanilla Xiaomi 14. Sadly, though, word on the grapevine claims the Xiaomi 14 Pro will not launch globally this year.
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is all but certain to launch with premium camera hardware across the board, and reports from China indicate Xiaomi will be paying a similar focus to the software side. Reportedly, in addition to its collaboration with Leica, Xiaomi has adopted the services of an imaging “Master” to aid with finetuning the aesthetics of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra’s cameras. Fans will be hoping that grants the Xiaomi 14 Ultra the ability to output shots as aesthetically pleasing as phones from Apple and Google—typically regarded as leaders in that aspect.
In addition, it appears the Xiaomi 14 Ultra could arrive without a rumored feature. Earlier reports claimed it would be the first Xiaomi device to ditch the optical-type fingerprint reader in favor of an ultrasonic model, but looks rumors have now been called into doubt, with the flagship phone seemingly set to continue with the optical-type sensor seen on previous devices in the series.
