Immediately after the premiere of the teaser for Season 5 of Fargo, one detail dominated the conversations amongst viewers. Not the incredible ensemble cast, or how this fresh chapter of the crime anthology might intertwine with the overarching series, but rather the appearance of Mad Men alumnus Jon Hamm, entering the fray as Roy Tillman, a deranged and morally dubious sheriff from North Dakota sporting a duo of matching nipple piercings.
However, the award-winning performer, who appears undisguised for a substantial fraction of his on-camera moments, did not actually pierce his nipples. During a media event following the season’s debut, Hamm divulged that he donned a custom-fabricated set of “realistic” prosthetic nipples for his bare-chested performances—and humorously noted having a “nipple specialist” at hand for essential improvements.
“Some incredibly cold latex was applied to my nipples, from which they produced an extremely realistic set of nipples, later pierced and positioned atop my own for the camera,” he described. “The production crew is often underappreciated, yet they had someone solely focused on nipple expertise,” he added.
The fifth season of Fargo is centered around Dorothy “Dot” Lyon, portrayed as an ostensibly typical Minnesota housewife by Ted Lasso‘s Juno Temple, who may be concealing a dark, illicit history. Joe Keery steps in as the compliant henchman to the Sheriff, Jennifer Jason Leigh embodies Dot’s cold-hearted mother-in-law, and Never Have I Ever‘s Richa Moorjani takes on the role of Indira Olmstead, a law enforcement officer from Minnesota.
