The heads of a motorcycle group against bullying in northern France have been apprehended for allegedly intimidating a school principal and his assistant.
The head of the Black Shadow North WC club and his spouse were interrogated by law enforcement in Auchel, a town located 65km west of Lille.
The accused crimes – which they reject – encompass making threats to force the principal into the trunk of a vehicle.
Prosecutors claim that the dispute stemmed from incidents of aggression among students.
The North WC Black Shadow club is among numerous motorcycle clubs that have surfaced in France to fight against bullying in the past few years.
Individuals are blaming law enforcement and educational authorities for not adequately addressing the issue. Based on medical professionals' opinions, more than 10% of students in France face harassment before they turn 16.
The conflict in Auchel began following a grievance filed last month by a mother who claimed her adolescent daughter was being victimized, according to reports.
Authorities did not substantiate the claims of bullying. However, emotions were heightened following the suicide of a teen from a nearby school in early November.
Legal authorities claim that the head of Black Shadow North WC approached the school in Auchel to call for penalties against the supposed culprits.
The district attorney's office reports that the motorcyclist and his spouse warned that they would return "with a large group of motorcyclists to force the principal into a car trunk and transport him over the Belgian border due to his inaction".
The defendants, who reject all allegations of misconduct, are scheduled to present themselves in court on Monday.
