For this video to play, you must turn on JavaScript in your browser. A fatal incident occurred where a man lost his life, and two others were hurt, one of whom is British, during an assault involving a knife and a hammer in downtown Paris.
The incident happened close to the Eiffel Tower just before 9:00 PM local time (8:00 PM GMT) on Saturday.
Police subsequently used a Taser on the suspect, who was then detained on grounds of alleged premeditated murder, as per French law. The suspect was also accused of "planning an assassination in connection with a terrorist activity".
An online video depicts law enforcement officers wielding guns as they approach a suspect near President-Kennedy Avenue.
It seems like the individual, completely clad in black, is holding a blade.
