The IKEA SOMRIG shortcut button/smart is now available in some EU countries like France and Sweden. The device allows you to simultaneously trigger multiple smart home products to create a scene or mood. For example, you could set lighting and music for a dinner mode or open your blinds and curtains and turn on lights in a wake-up scenario.
The IKEA SOMRIG has two buttons, allowing you to trigger up to six scenes. The scenarios are set up in the IKEA Home smart app and launched with a short, double or long press. It is worth noting that you also need to have the DIRIGERA hub to use the smart switch. Alternatively, the product can be used with the older TRADFRI gateway.
IKEA already offers two smart home remote controls, RODRET and STYRBAR, which only allow you to switch devices on or off or dim lights simultaneously. The battery-powered device is rated as IP44 dust and waterproof, measuring 50 x 30 x 80 mm (~2.0 x 1.2 3.1-in). You can buy the IKEA SOMRIG shortcut button/smart in France for €6.99 and in Sweden for 99 kr. The device is also listed for €9.99 in Greece, though it is currently marked as out of stock. It remains to be seen when the product will roll out to other countries in the region.
