Google has confirmed it is bringing several outstanding Pixel Watch 2 features to its predecessor. Soon, the original Pixel Watch will be capable of mirroring Bedtime Mode and DND modes from a paired smartphone, among other improvements.
Google is quietly bringing new features to the original Pixel Watch that debuted earlier this year on its successor. To recap, the company confirmed in early October that its first smartwatch would be receiving Wear OS 4 with a reduced feature set. As we discussed at the time, Google decided against enabling DND and Bedtime Mode mirroring, which were duly missing when the Pixel Watch’s first OS upgrade arrived a few weeks later.
For some reason, the company has bundled these features and a few others within the December 2023 Pixel Feature Drop. While it is unclear in what build either feature will arrive, they should be joined by Smart Unlock, a method for unlocking a Pixel 5a or newer with your smartwatch. For reference, the latter will also be available on the Pixel Watch 2.
Moreover, Google has added Adventure and Analog Arcs to the Pixel Watch, plus updated arc and bulb complication styles. Purportedly, Google has distributed these separately, meaning that they should already be available across original Pixel Watch models. Please see Google’s blog post for more details.
