Rock legend Mick Jagger and his girlfriend Melanie Hamrick just celebrated the seventh birthday of their son Devereaux, and Hamrick marked the occasion by posting some rare photos to Instagram of the Rolling Stones frontman spending some quality time with his little boy.
Jagger also has two 52-year-old daughters; Karis, whose mother is Marsha Hunt, and Jade, who he had with ex-wife Bianca Jagger. Then, while married to Jerry Hall, Jagger had Elizabeth, 39, Georgia May, 31, James, 38, and Gabriel, 25. He then went on to have Lucas, 24, with model Luciana Morad Gimenez, before fathering Deveraux, the youngest of his eight children, with Hamrick.
Jagger opened up about his experience of fatherhood in a recent Guardian article, admitting that he has been more present as a parent to Devereaux because he was working less when he was born, and the prolonged COVID-related shutdowns meant he stopped touring and was home more.
“You get a bit out of practice — it’s not like riding a bike,” he said. “The more children you have, the more laissez-faire you get about them, to be honest.”
“And it depends on the child. They have their own personalities and you can mold them to a certain extent, but you see their likes and dislikes and encourage them do things they gravitate towards,” he continued. “It’s fun to have children, at any age. But if you’re working, and always away, you don’t get to enjoy it as much.”
