Minisforum EM780 has made its debut in the Chinese market and is now available for purchase at a starting price of CNY3999 (around $565). As reported earlier, the mini PC has a similar set of specs as the predecessor but comes with a Ryzen 7 7840U instead of a Ryzen 7 6800U.
Previously showcased at Computex this year and recently teased on Minisforum’s Weibo account, the EM780 is now officially available for purchase. It’s the successor to the Minisforum EM680 mini PC that debuted with an ultra-compact housing but had capable specs under the hood.
As a refreshed model, the brand-new Minisforum EM780 mini PC upgrades the APU to the Zen4 AMD Ryzen 7 7840U. It brings the Radeon 780M iGPU, which makes the tiny computer capable of handling many games at respectable frame rates. It’s paired with 32 GB of LPDDR5-6400 RAM and up to 1 TB of SSD. A variant with 16 GB of RAM will also be available in the future.
Now, while the EM780 mini PC has a pocket-sized chassis, it does come with a good cooling setup. Minisforum says it has utilized Cold Wave 2.0 heat dissipation solution, which can make the tiny gaming computer offer a smooth and quiet performance at 28 watts. This setup mainly comprises an active cooling fan with liquid metal.
In terms of the ports, the Minsforum EM780 mini gaming PC features three USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A, two USB4 Type-C with DisplayPort 1.4 support, one TF card slot, and one HDMI port. For wireless connectivity, the tiny desktop brings WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. International availability hasn’t been announced yet, but the EM680 did debut in the global regions. The variant with 32 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage is currently available for $399.90 on Amazon.
