Fortnite is a fairly casual game, but how long does one match usually last? Find out how long an average match is in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1.

If you’ve recently started considering getting into Fortnite, the thought of how long an average match is has probably crossed your mind. After all, if you’re going to start investing your time in this Battle Royale game, it helps to know whether or not it’s going to consume a lot of your time. Additionally, as a parent, you’d have an idea of how long the game will occupy your child.

On average, a Fortnite match lasts around 20 minutes. To further explain this, the game is capped to end around the 20-minute mark due to the storm circle closing in the last available area.

Regardless of your character’s health, you will continue to take a ton of damage the longer you stay in a storm circle, so there’s just no way of prolonging the game for longer than this. On the other hand, if multiple enemies are still alive, it’s just a matter of who will run out of med kits first to heal up.

Of course, despite the average match Fortnite length being around 20 minutes, it doesn’t always mean that this will always be the case for every match. The match is over the instant you get eliminated. If you’re unlucky, this could even be within the first five minutes when most players are still looting.

It’s a bit different if you’re playing in Duo, Trio, and Squad, where other players are involved. Assuming your teammates make it, chances are you’re going to be revived in the nearest Reboot Van, allowing you to respawn and continue the match.
