CN100 contractor Dodd Group has grown both turnover and profit.

The Shropshire-based firm, which specialises in mechanical and electrical projects as well as repair and maintenance of public sector buildings, turned over £206.7m for the 12 months to 31 March 2023.

This was up 23 per cent from the previous year, while pre-tax profit increased by more than two-thirds to £4.1m over the same period.

Directors said the firm’s property services division had increasingly picked up decarbonisation and retrofit works on “large-scale renewables and building-fabric updates”.

This included involvement with government net-zero programmes, they added.

Meanwhile, Dodd’s Construction division continued to win “sizeable projects generating both repeat business and beneficial relationships with new customers”.

The company continued to work on long-term deals to provide infrastructure services to Ministry of Defence bases.

Despite the huge uplift in profit, the firm noted “challenging inflationary and supply issues” that “eroded construction margins on fixed-price contracts”.

Dodd Group entered the top-10 mechanical and electrical contractors in the latest CN Specialists Index.

Founded in 1947, the company works across sectors including retail, residential and defence. It had an average of 977 employees in its past financial year, up from 850 a year earlier.
