TONIGHT PROMISES TO be a good night for Taylor Swift. The pop superstar, who has gone from strength to strength over the last two years with the release of Midnights, her record-breaking Eras Tour, and multiple new Taylor’s Versions of previous albums, is nominated for a slew of awards at the 2024 Grammys, taking place this evening in Los Angeles.
But despite being in the midst of a whirlwind romance with NFL star Travis Kelce, Swift will be flying solo at tonight’s ceremony. Unfortunately, the Grammys clash with Kelce’s intensive training schedule with the Kansas City Chiefs ahead of the Super Bowl.
“I wish I could go support Taylor at the Grammys and watch her win every single award that she’s nominated for,” Kelce told Pat McAfee. “But unfortunately, I gotta get ready for this big ‘ol Super Bowl that we got in a week.”
He went on to gush about his and Swift’s connection, saying: “It’s a beautiful thing, isn’t it? Hopefully everybody realizes we’re just two people in a relationship supporting each other and having fun with it. However much the world wants to make us the enemy, we just have fun with it. We enjoy every single bit of it… It’s been nothing but a wonderful year.”
It’s the downside to being in the ultimate power couple: sometimes you’ve both got career commitments you can’t get out of, whether it’s accepting a staggering number of Grammys or getting ready to hopefully win your third Super Bowl ring. As long as you’re supporting your partner, even from afar, things are good—and it’s unlikely Swift will be writing another heartbreaker in the vein of ‘The Moment I Knew,’ ‘All You Had to Do Was Stay’ or ‘All Too Well’ about Kelce’s absence.
