OnePlus 12 has made its global debut at the end of last month. While it runs on the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 as some of the devices in the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, it didn’t introduce any fancy AI features at launch. But OnePlus is changing that, at least in China, by releasing a new update of ColorOS.
As the update changelog describes, the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 11 received three generative AI features. One of them is an AI summarizer, which the company says can generate a summary of phone calls. It captures different data, including times, locations, and “other key information” from calls.
The next AI feature introduced by the ColorOS update is an image editor that works similarly to the AI photo-editing of Galaxy S24 and Google Pixel devices. Called AIGC Remover, it can remove people and objects from images. The last AI-enhanced feature for the two OnePlus phones is an article summarizer.
OnePlus says that the article summarizer can generate summaries “with just one tap.” The new ColorOS update isn’t just about AI features, though. It also brings a couple of other enhancements, such as accessing the fingerprint scanner without needing to wake up the device. You can learn more from the complete changelog attached in the image below.
The company has yet to announce these AI features for the global variants of the OnePlus 12 and its predecessor, both of which run on OxygenOS. But as ColorOS is basically the same as OxygenOS, the global users could soon see the rollout of the new update.
