Reem Acra Fall 2024 Ready-to-Wear

Date:

Fans of the artist Lorde know when the singer has a new album on the way because she’s often seen in the city testing out how her album sounds on a range of headphones; from budget-wired ones to state-of-the-art, over-the-ear versions to get the true fan experience. The same can be said for designer Reem Acra, who recently showcased her fall 2024 collection both in person and via Zoom. That these shimmering gowns look as great in person, as they do on a 720-pixel Zoom camera, is a testament to her craftsmanship.

Her latest collection was inspired by an enchanted forest, and utilized colors darker than in previous seasons: rich hunting greens, deep burgundies, and a jet black reminiscent of the midnight sky. For those who have rediscovered their love for old school glamour via Feud: Capote vs. The Swans, Acra may soon become their go-to designer. Dramatic puff-sleeve gowns that cinch at the waist, created an enviable hourglass shape on models, while off-the-shoulder silhouettes featured an enlarged bow detailing for an extra pop. Elsewhere, Acra still incorporated some of the sexier, more youthful styles that she’s been recently leaning into; like this season’s closing look; a “naked dress” that used sequins to cover everything that needs to be covered, accessorized with a dramatic shawl for an additional layer of glamour.
