HIP-HOP LEGEND Andre Young has been going by his rap moniker Dr. Dre for almost 40 years—and plays a real doctor in a new sketch filmed for Jimmy Kimmel Live. Dre’s Anatomy—a play on the long-running medical soap Grey’s Anatomy—revolves around a pretty simple joke: late night host Kimmel has been admitted to hospital, and his penis appears to be so small that it takes a whole team of doctors, played by Dre and his hip-hop-hospital colleagues Snoop Dogg and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, to find it.

It’s a pretty funny bit, especially as Kimmel’s medical treatment devolves into a party and the examining room becomes a nightclub, with the beeps of the heart monitor mixing into the unmistakable beat of Dre and Snoop’s track ‘Still D.R.E.’. But Dre recently spoke about how important he believes it is for Black men to stay proactive in taking care of their health and getting regular checkups, after high blood pressure led to him suffering a brain aneurysm and multiple subsequent strokes.

“It’s crazy, so now knowing that I had no control over that. It’s just something that could happen out of the blue,” he told James Corden. “I had no idea that I had high blood pressure or anything like that because I’m on my health shit. I’m lifting weights, I’m running, I’m doing everything I can to keep myself healthy… High blood pressure in Black men, that’s just what it is. They call it the silent killer. You just have no idea, so you know, you have to keep your shit checked.”

After a Dre’s Anatomy title card featuring a whole host of doctors both real and fictional, from the Grey’s Anatomy character McDreamy to Marvel superhero Doctor Strange and Dr. Anthony Fauci, the sketch ends with a brief ad for another made-up medical drama, an E.R. parody entitled E.M., starring Eminem.

The rapper makes a brief appearance as himself, and while holding a syringe quotes one of his best-known tracks: “You only get one shot,” before Jackson makes a “weird flex” by reminding everyone he’s been shot nine times.
