This week, the best dressed stars on the red carpets proved that even the quietest looks can still have a major impact. Celebrities like Hunter Schafer, Kendall Jenner, and Gabrielle Union opted for sleek suits or dresses with clean lines—rejecting flashy prints or voluminous silhouettes in favor of subtlety and refinement.
Classic two-piece suits certainly had their moment: In Los Angeles, Kendall Jenner stepped out in Bottega Veneta’s structured suit, amping it up with the label’s bright orange bag. In Toronto, actor Mary Elizabeth Winstead slipped into Stine Goya’s pink power suit—a hue that will forever turn heads. In New York City, meanwhile, Joey King embraced Thom Browne’s signature pleated skirt suit, completing the look with a shirt and tie.
The dresses and gowns this week were just as elegant, thought the memo seemed to be less about statement dressing, and more about looks that felt fresh yet timeless. In L.A., Hunter Schafer wore Erdem’s satin floral-print blush dress with the matching jacket. For her Challengers premiere in Sydney, Zendaya nodded to the film with her Loewe gown, which featured a tennis motif on the front. (Jonathan Anderson also did the film’s costumes.) If the week had one winningly bold look, though, it was Lucy Boynton’s sequined and lace dress, designed by Simone Rocha for Jean Paul Gaultier.
