Reem Acra has dressed vice presidents, first ladies, and royals. This season, driven by a new silhouette, the designer seemed determined to expand her customer base. “I introduced something kind of new to me—a lot of these shorter pieces give a kind of younger vibe,” she said.
Along with ultra-short embroidered skirts and dresses, Acra added the teeny-tiny bralettes favored by today’s younger generation to her eveningwear offer, for an even sexier feel. Her traditional chiffon gowns came in for a makeover, too, via scene-stealing deeper cuts in the back. But she didn’t abandon her core styles—her more conservative cotton piqué gowns were still here, just amped-up in zesty colors like canary yellow and watermelon pink.
