The following story contains light spoilers for The Acolyte Episode 6.
IF YOU WATCHED episode 6 of The Acolyte, it’s a secret to absolutely no one that the episode had some steam—and fans are thanking Manny Jacinto’s abs for that. Jacinto plays Qimir, who in the previous episode was revealed to be the show’s Sith villain in one of the biggest twists so far.
Since Qimir’s unmasking as one of the show’s overarching villain, he has seemingly been on a mission to turn more people with potential in the force over to the dark side. In episode 6, he utilized his soft charisma and toned body in an non-verbal attempt to seduce Amandla Stenberg’s character, Osha, to join him. Remember, in episode 5, he suggested that he wanted his own apprentice, an “Acolyte”—seemingly inspiring the name of the series. And while Mae, Osha’s twin sister, has let him down, clearly he’s seeing the potential of turning the twin most of us previously saw to be “the good one.”
The Acolyte‘s sixth episode was titled “ Tech/Corrupt,” and followed Mae and Osha (again, twins, and again, both played by Amandla Stenberg) as they swapped places with their former masters. Mae fails in an attempt to trick and murder Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae), but she is caught and is ultimately stunned by a blaster. Meanwhile, Osha is taken to an unknown island on an unknown planet with Jacinto’s Sith villain—who is referred to, at this point, as either “Qimir” or “The Stranger”—with an initial goal to murder him as well.
Ultimately Osha’s plan is derailed when the villain uses his looks to his advantage as he tries to seduce Osha and stops her from killing him with his lightsaber. Needless to say, many fans are not complaining about the moment of sexual tension in the episode, when, Jacinto’s character undresses and goes for a nice skinny dip.
Is his character’s sex appeal making the dark side look not so bad after all? Fans were quick to X/Twitter to express a bit of thirst for the steamy scenes.
