Costco to raise membership fees for first time in 7 years, and its stock rallies

Wall Street analysts have pestered Costco Wholesale Corp. for months over when it would hike its membership fees, after customer demand held up through the pandemic as well as price increases that stretched consumer budgets.

On Wednesday, the warehouse retailer gave the investing world what it wanted — announcing its first fee hike on millions of its shoppers since 2017. Shares of Costco COST rose 2.3% after hours on the news.
