Here is the full text of Donald Trump’s post on “Truth Social”:
“Crooked Joe Biden was not fit to run for President, and is certainly not fit to serve – And never was! He only attained the position of President by lies, Fake News, and not leaving his Basement. All those around him, including his Doctor and the Media, knew that he wasn’t capable of being President, and he wasn’t – And now, look what he’s done to our Country, with millions of people coming across our Border, totally unchecked and unvetted, many from prisons, mental institutions, and record numbers of terrorists. We will suffer greatly because of his presidency, but we will remedy the damage he has done very quickly. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Biden, 81, stepped down late Sunday night after immense pressure from within his own party, including close allies such as former President Barrack Obama who had said that chances of Biden win are increasingly diminishing.
The pressure was building up after Biden’s performance in the first Presidential debate against Trump and multiple verbal errors post that, including addressing Harris as Vice President Trump and Ukraine President Zelenskyy as President Putin.
Although Biden has said that he will complete his full term, he has now endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic candidate to run against Trump during the November election.
Trump formally accepted the Republican nomination for President last week, days after surviving an assassination attempt.
In response to Biden’s standing down, US stock futures are witnessing a muted reaction, while the US Dollar has edged lower in early Asian trading.
