Riot Games has officially launched Valorant on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 consoles today. Players in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Japan and Brazil can try out the developer’s free-to-play 5v5 hero-based tactical shooter today.

The developer plans to offer the same Valorant experience on consoles and PC. Players on both platforms will receive game updates simultaneously including live patch balances, new agents, maps, premium content and additional live service features.

However, there will be some console-specific features to adapt the Valorant experience to a new platform. The team highlighted the console version’s new Focus shooting mode, which mimics other console shooters. To maintain competitive integrity, crossplay between PC and consoles will not be available at launch.

“We’ve received so much valuable feedback from players during Limited Beta, and feel confident to deliver on our gameplay promise for console players. Whether it’s hitting that perfect shot, executing a flawless team play, or wiping out the enemy team, we look forward to seeing console players experience the same gameplay thrill as Valorant PC players,” said Arnar Gylfason, production director of Valorant at Riot Games.

This is Riot Games’ first live service launch on consoles, but it won’t be the last. The developer’s upcoming fighting game, 2XKO, will likely join Valorant on consoles when it launches. The company plans to expand its rollout gradually to more geographies as it gathers data from its launch in select markets.

Riot announced Valorant would launch on consoles at Summer Games Fest earlier this year. This launch announcement coincides with the beginning of the title’s world championship: Valorant Champions 2024 in Seoul, South Korea.
