Date:

This is the last Saturday without college football in 2024 as the Week 0 schedule is set to unfold on Saturday, Aug. 24. An ACC matchup gets the season underway as No. 10 Florida State takes on Georgia Tech at noon ET in Dublin. The latest Week 0 college football odds list the Seminoles at -11.5. There’s one other FBS vs. FBS matchup and that’s new ACC member SMU (-27.5) going to Nevada for an 8 p.m. ET kickoff on CBS Sports Network.

Elsewhere, FCS member Montana State is -8.5 against New Mexico, while Hawaii is -37.5 against Delaware State in the nightcap at midnight ET. Before locking in any college football picks for Week 0 of the 2024 season, be sure to see the college football betting guide from legendary Vegas handicapper Bruce Marshall.

Top college football predictions for Week 0

One of the top college football picks Marshall is recommending for Week 0: He likes SMU to cover against Nevada in that 8 p.m. ET kickoff at Mackey Stadium.

The Mustangs were 8-6 against the spread last season, while Nevada is 10-14 ATS over the past two seasons and it has covered just three times in its last 12 games at home.

SMU is just outside the Top 25 in the major polls after winning 11 games last season. SMU quarterback Preston Stone returns after throwing for 28 touchdowns last season and leading an offense that averaged nearly 40 points per game. It’s a complete rebuild for Nevada, meanwhile, as it won just four games over the past two years and brought in a new head coach, Jeff Choate, in the offseason. See which other picks to make here.
