NWSL’s Boston franchise finally has a name, and it’s BOS Nation Football Club, according to CBS Sports sources. The franchise, set to join the league in 2026, will unveil the new name and logo on Tuesday. The official rollout of the name can be linked to “TooManyBalls.com,” a placeholder for an extensive marketing campaign around Boston to promote the new club name and colors, which will be green and black.

There were some indicators on social media about the rollout, and some retailers already had links for merchandise, but those links have since been removed since following CBS Sports’ reporting on Monday.

Despite the now modified links, BOS NATION FC and BOS NATION FOOTBALL CLUB are now listed on the United States Patent and Trademark Office database as a trademark filing with a filing date of Monday, Oct. 14. The club’s marketing campaign slogan “Too Many Balls,” also has a trademark filing with the USPTO.

NWSL Boston was awarded expansion in September 2023. They have had the longest build-up to an inaugural season to date. They will be the 15th NWSL franchise, led by Boston Unity Soccer Partners (BUSC), an all-female core ownership group led by a leadership team with local ties.

“I’m excited to expand the NWSL’s footprint and continue its transformative growth in our return to Boston, one of the world’s most iconic sports cities,” said NWSL commissioner Jessica Berman in an initial announcement.

“We are very proud to welcome Boston Unity Soccer Partners to our ownership group. They bring an impressive roster of business leaders committed to continuing Boston’s legacy of sports excellence and delivering a successful team to a very passionate fanbase.”

Fans will have official colors, logos, and a “Too Many Balls” campaign to rally around after a special fan celebration at Dick’s House of Sport in Boston on Tuesday.
