Leave It to Rihanna to Make Crocs High-Fashion

Date:

When it comes to pulling off bold fashions, few can do it quite like Rihanna can. The superstar just has that special ability to make even the most avant-garde pieces seem totally effortless: wearing bathrobes as formal attire, and fresh-off-the-runway coats for a dinner outing. This weekend (December 14), Rihanna is back at it again: The star emerged with A$AP Rocky in Beverly Hills wearing a new stylish look to dissect. She embraced a more casual off-duty vibe for a day spent shopping, with a sporty zip-up jacket and big layered fur coat. But it’s her choice of shoes that have us doing a double take: an eye-catching pair of Crocs, though hers are an exclusive fashion-minded pair, of course.

Leave it to Rihanna to make Crocs chic. The rubber shoes, which are about as polarizing as a shoe can get, have been having a recent fashion renaissance. Rihanna dipped into the movement by choosing a collaboration pair with Simone Rocha, clunky and chunky, embellished with pearl and spike studs. (Balenciaga and Salehe Bembury have also paired up with Crocs, making the case for them as an ugly-chic wardrobe staple whatever your luxury label penchant.)

Rihanna wasn’t alone in delivering a bold shoe moment, either: By her side, A$AP Rocky also paired his sporty Puma kicks with a pair of white ruffled socks. Talk about elevating a tracksuit! And we love a coordinated fashion statement. Rihanna and A$AP wore Crocs and ruffled socks, and now we want Crocs and ruffled socks.
