San Diego, CA – WEBWIRE

A story about a desperate search, its tragic discovery and one womans slow rediscovery of the past as a means to cope with it all.

On October 28th, 1974, two brothers-in-law were piloting an air hearse on a return flight from Gallup, New Mexico. Their destination was Sturgis, South Dakota, and they were transporting victims of a fatal car/train accident.

However, on that day, the plane mysteriously vanished.

Today, his wife, Jean Quaal, has decided to share the emotional tragedy surrounding her husbands disappearance in a memoir titled Searching: When Songbirds Ceased to Sing.

Searching describes in great detail the experience of someone in Quaals painful predicament. Despite Rapid City Flight Service issuing a Missing Aircraft Alert to all surrounding airports, it would be a year before the truth finally came to light. By then, the search had extended to an enormous six-state area with multiple authorities and investigators rightly troubled by the mystery. At some point, Quaal had even resorted to consulting with a psychic to get even the faintest clue as to what had happened to her husband.

Eventually, the remains of her husbands plane were finally found somewhere in the Colorado mountains. The most probable cause for its crash was said to have been engine failure and bad weather.

Still, Searching is a deep exploration into the mind of someone who has suffered from having a missing person case in their family for such an extended period. Quaal describes her feelings in great detail, along with all the methods she had applied to manage her grief.

Those who would like to read Jean Quaals story for themselves can purchase a copy of Searching: When Songbirds Ceased to Sing on ReadersMagnet Bookstore, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble.
