Colin Jost was forced to drag his wife, Scarlett Johansson, on live TV during a joke swap segment with Michael Che on “Saturday Night Live.”
The comedians, who co-host the “Weekend Update,” wrote brutal jokes for the other to deliver during the long-running show’s final episode of the year.
“New York State now allows movie theaters to serve alcohol, which is how I’m finally able to enjoy my wife’s little art movies,” Jost, 41, said, wincing as he delivered the never-before-seen material.
“I’m kidding, honey, I love all of your movies and if you ask me you’re an even better ‘Black Widow’ than Coretta Scott King,” he said of the late Martin Luther King Jr.’s wife.
To make matters worse, Che introduced a “poet, author and activist … who was last on this show, Season 3, 46 years ago” to sit next to Jost as he delivered the racist quip.
“Please welcome Dr. Hattie Davis, ladies and gentlemen,” Che added, welcoming an actor to the set who was ostensibly a black civil rights activist.
“Michael Che does him so dirty 🤣🤣🤣,” one fan commented under a clip of the comedy writer roasting his wife.
“I swear they tried to end him with this one😂,” another added.
A third viewer chimed in, “They didn’t hold back on this one. Those two are comedy gold. We need more of this.”

Elsewhere in the segment, Jost got Che back with an equally out-of-pocket joke about Beyoncé.
“Last month Beyoncé posted a photo on Instagram of herself in a chrome Versace dress and platinum blond hair that many people online described as ‘too white,’” the standup comic read. “In fact, Beyoncé looked so white that I was finally attracted to her.”
Jost was first linked to Johansson, 39, in May 2017 when they were spotted kissing after her appearance on “SNL.” They made their relationship public that December and got engaged in May 2019 after two years of dating.
They said their “I dos” in October 2020 during an intimate ceremony at the Oscar nominee’s home in Palisades, New York.
The comedian and the movie star welcomed their first child together in August 2021, managing to keep the pregnancy under wraps for eight months.
The “Black Widow” actress is also a mom to 9-year-old daughter, Rose, whom she shares with ex-husband Romain Dauriac.
The couple most recently made headlines after Johansson was seen asking a stone-faced Jost if he was “OK” during a red carpet appearance.
The father of one appeared so lost in thought while posing at the 2023 American Museum of Natural History Gala that the “Lost In Translation” actress had to check in with him in a now-viral clip.
